Our Programs

Get familiar with all the campaigns we run at NKM

Founder Takiyah Wedderburn has worked closely with foster families, addressing their concerns about supporting Black children’s unique cultural needs. Families often sought guidance on managing hair and skin care and navigating the self-image challenges Black children and youth face daily.

Through these resources, NKM supports the growth, resilience, and self-esteem of Black children and youth in foster care.

Educational Workshops

Our interactive workshops explore Black hair care, its cultural significance, and history, while addressing the impact of self-image on the mental health of Black youth

Community Engagement

We host community events, funded provincially and federally, to assemble care packages with hair and skin care products, styling tools, and books for Black youth in foster care. Join our mailing list to stay updated on our next event!”
